Allen’s Freckles are a creamy chocolate button coated with colourful ‘100’s and 1000’s’. These bite sized creamy-crunchy discs were introduced in the early 60s, and the iconic buttons remain a popular snack and cake decoration throughout Australia and New Zealand to this day.
Allen’s Freckles are available in small and large pouches, tubs, and in 2018 were available in a limited-edition chocolate bar available exclusively at Coles, Australia.
Limited editions aside, how do these popular candy-covered chocolate buds fare when it comes to the gluten-sensitive? Let’s find out…

The Answer is: Yes!
Allen’s Freckles are manufactured by parent company Nestlé. In Nestlé Australia’s Gluten Avoidance PDF (found here), Allen’s Freckles are listed as being gluten-free and are therefore safe for Coeliacs to consume.
