Long Beach Island is a popular vacation resort island and travel destination on the Jersey Shore. Located near Atlantic city off the coast of New Jersey, LBI receives hundreds of thousands of visitors each summer to enjoy the beaches, delicious restaurants, shopping, and more!

Coming here since I was a kid, I’ve had the chance to explore the island for decades, and to find the best food.

There are a ton of restaurants on Long Beach Island, and with that come some delicious gluten free options! Let’s find out the best gluten free restaurants and options on Long Beach Island, New Jersey. Featuring restaurants from Surf City, Beach Haven, Ship Bottom, and other parts of the island.

1. The Chicken or the Egg

The Chicken or the Egg is arguably the most well-known restaurant on all of Long Beach Island. It is a staple for chicken wings and chicken sandwiches, with a ton of delicious buffalo and bbq sauce options. It’s also an excellent spot for people with a gluten allergy.

The Chicken or the Egg offers gluten free grilled chicken sandwiches, egg sandwiches, salads, and chicken wings that aren’t breaded! There are a ton of options for everyone, and most people report little to no cross contamination issues, as the staff is trained on gluten allergies.

 

2. Uncle Will’s Pancake House

Uncle Will’s Pancake House is another classic spot on Long Beach Island, and it happens to be very close to The Chicken or the Egg. They offer tons of breakfast options that can be made gluten free including, omelettes, pancakes, fruits, sides, fresh drinks, and more.

 

3. Pearl Street Market

Pearl Street Market is an exceptional market for breakfast, sandwiches, and pre-packaged foods. They are a bit on the expensive side, but the quality is always there. For gluten free options, people rave about their wraps!

 

4. Barry’s Do Me A Flavor

Barry’s Do Me A Flavor is a classic restaurant and ice cream shop on Long Beach Island, and it has some truly epic gluten free options! The number one thing I always get are the blackened Mahi Mahi fish tacos. They come on corn shells and are literally incredible. They also have gluten free wraps for steak and cheese, chicken salad, and other types of wraps! They also have gluten free buns for any sandwich or burger (outside of the fried chicken, etc.). For dessert, don’t forget the ice cream, they have a lot of options!

I highly recommend this restaurant on your visit to Long Beach Island. It’s worth the wait.

 

5. Playa Bowls

While it’s not native to Long Beach Island, this fast-casual spot just feels at home on the beach. It’s made for surfers after all! Playa Bowls offers delicious smoothies, acai bowls, and other breakfasts/sweet treats. They also have Poke Bowls for lunch! They are well versed with allergens at the store, so just tell them about your allergy and ask for gluten free granola, etc.

 

6. Skipper Dipper

Another fun ice cream spot on Long Beach Island, Skipper Dipper is extremely popular and has plenty of gf options. You can get hard ice cream, soft serve, and so many toppings!

 

7. Dio’s Cafe

Dio’s is an awesome cafe with gluten free breakfast sandwiches, cheesteaks, and hoagies! They also offer fries and other snacks/sides, so it’s a great spot to hit before, during, or after the beach. 🙂

 

8. Crêperie de la Mer

Crêperie de la Mer is a relatively new spot on Long Beach Island, but they are quickly gaining attention for their delicious crepes and cool atmosphere. The best part is, they offer gluten free crepes made on a separate surface! You can get tons of toppings too like strawberries, banana, Nutella, butter, sugar, apples, cinnamon, and more.

 

9. Wally’s

Wally’s is a classic spot on Long Beach Island that has been around for over 50 years! They also have one of the most extensive gluten free menus on LBI. Offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner options, Wally’s is a great spot to go for gluten free any time of the day.

Some popular items include tacos and quesadillas, soups, salads, chowder, and subs with gluten free rolls! They also have burgers, tons of entrees, and dessert. It is truly a gem for people with Celiac Disease or a gluten allergy who are visiting the shore, check out Wally’s.

 

10. The WooHoo

The WooHoo is another fantastic spot on LBI that takes allergies seriously! They have a whole page dedicated to it, and can accommodate a wide range of allergies outside of just wheat/gluten. Check out The WooHoo for ice cream treats, burgers and sandwiches, and fries. Another great spot to hit after the beach for snacks and treats.
