Gluten Free Product Review: Almondy Swedish Almond Cake

When it comes to gluten free sweets, Almondy takes the cake! Literally. Below I will be doing my first gluten free product review on the Gluten Bee blog.

A bit more about the new Product Reviews section of our blog before I get started. I will be doing a handful of reviews based around different products I’ve personally tested. I always struggle to find products I like, so when I do, I love to share them with people. Hopefully these reviews will help you find some new gluten free products to try from the store!

Almondy Cakes

Almondy makes a wide range of 7 different cakes that you can purchase from stores around the world. I personally found the original almond cake when shopping at an Ikea near where I live, but all 7 unique cakes are gluten free so I look forward to trying the others eventually too!

One of the coolest things Almondy does is parter with other food companies to create amazing cakes. These include Cadbury, Toblerone, Daim, and Philadelphia.

Gluten Free Almond Cake Review

Above is what the cake looks like out of the box. These are not massive cakes. They are a total of 400g and this is about 6-8 slices. The slices start to get bigger after the first one.

The cake is made of an almond base and has a creamy and sweet icing on the outside. Finally it is coated with almond slices on the top.

The almond cake base reminded me a lot of what carrot cake tastes like, just with the almond flavor. It was moist and paired really nicely with the cream icing on top.

Outside of the taste and quality aspect of Almondy Cakes, I think the absolute best part about these is how convenient and reasonable they are.

I am sure prices vary a lot around the world, but hopefully these cakes are affordable in your region too.

In terms of preparation, Almondy recommends leaving the cake out (from the freezer/fridge) for 20-30 minutes and then serving at room temperature.

You can also heat it up in the microwave for a warm, soft cake treat. One time after eating some spicy wings I needed a sweat palette cleanser and I tried this. Suffice to say I forgot about the spice because of how delicious this melted, gooey cake was.

Conclusion

Overall, I really enjoy the Almondy Almond Cake and cannot wait to try out some of their other gluten free cakes. Having a pre-made solution is really awesome and saves me a lot of time when I don’t feel like baking. Hopefully this review was helpful to you!
