Peroni Nastro Azzurro is a premium lager brewed by Italian brewery Peroni. Popular for its clean and crisp taste, Peroni is the best selling beer in Italy. A beer as crisp and refreshing as Peroni Nastro can be difficult to give up – so can it be enjoyed by coeliacs?
Is Peroni Nastro Azzuro Gluten Free?
The answer is: NO*
Even though Peroni Nastro Azzuro is a pale lager primarily brewed from maize, it still uses barley like traditional beers and therefore contains gluten.
*Peroni recently launched a gluten-free version of their popular beer which you can learn more about here.
As a diagnosed coeliac and frequent pub visitor, I can attest that Peroni’s gluten free alternative larger is very good. But be sure you don’t confuse the two – regular Peroni Nastro Azzuro Larger is not gluten free and will make coeliacs sick.
