So, it this Swedish vodka gluten-free?

Let’s find out:

Is Svedka Vodka Gluten Free?

The Answer is: Questionable*

*A lot of people will argue that technically, all liquors are gluten free, due to the distillation process. For people with Celiac Disease and severe allergies, this simply isn’t true. Many people, myself included, still have reactions to vodka, whiskey, and other alcohol that is distilled from wheat. Svedka is made from a wheat base.

A one-liter bottle is produced using about 1.5 kg of wheat and spring water and is 80 proof (40% alcohol). The original ingredient of wheat cannot be guaranteed to distill out, so if you have Celiac Disease or an allergy, this is not confirmed gluten free.

    • You should read the full post you linked to: ‘However, be on the lookout for hidden gluten in vodkas that may add flavorings or other ingredients after distillation. Vodka is typically just water and ethenol but sometimes can contain traces of other ingredients. There is also a risk for gluten cross-contact in facilities that process products containing wheat, barley, or rye.’
