Guylian is an artisanal Belgian chocolate manufacturer founded by Guy Foubert in 1958. Guylian offers a wide assortment of Belgian chocolate and is perhaps most well-known for its production of chocolate shaped Sea Shells packaged in an iconic white box.
Alongside the famed box of chocolates offered by Guylian, their products are now also available in small packs, pouches and even as snack-sized chocolate bars.
Each of the elegantly crafted Sea Shell chocolates is filled with hazelnut praliné filling, following an exact recipe that has dated back more than 60 years.
As a popular gift, it is important to know whether this affordable indulgence can be consumed by those sensitive to gluten.
Are Guylian Sea Shells Original Praliné Chocolates Gluten Free?
The Answer is: Yes*
*Although many of Guylian chocolates, such as the Sea Shells, are made without wheat or gluten-containing ingredients, they may contain traces of gluten due to cross-contamination. Therefore Guylian Chocolates should be avoided particularly if you are sensitive to gluten or have been diagnosed with celiac disease.
It is also important to note that several of Guylians products contain gluten as a direct ingredient. Products that do contain gluten are:
- Guylian’s Temptations Crunchy Biscuit
- Assortments containing Opus
- Guylian Master’s Selection
